The addition of a couple of solid prospect at 3B, along with a pitcher that can start now for us, and a project pitcher for the future was too much to pass up, even for a player of Carlos' quality." | |

however what i dont understand is why are the yankees giving up 10 million? they r takin onboard a 16 million contract... and the astros arnt even close to being in debt. | |

| The New York Yankees accept. Why we want to do this trade: We feel that adding a player with the caliber of Carlos Lee, will easily make us favorites to win it all. Once A-Rod comes back from his month long injury, we should have the most potent lineup ever. We want to win now, and we are sick and tired of 1st round losses. Our pitching is one of the weakest in all of MLB, and considering that there aren't many good pitchers available, we feel we must slug it out at least until free agency. We feel that we can do this trade because none of those propsects will ever make our team as nothing mere than bench players or a #5 SP, if not LR. Some cash settlement was needed to complete this trade, because the Astros want to pickup some players in free agency. So, I decided that 10M should be sufficient, and we can give that up as we make a lot of money  Again, none of these prospect would ever be as important to us as Lee will be for this season and many future seasons. We want to win now! | |

| Yeah, they wouldn't really have had any budget to sign any free agents, as Carlos Lee took up 16M + over the next 6 years. He strapped them financially. | |
