Guys I just don't see that trade going down. If the Blue Jays would ever trade Vernon Wells it would have to be for like 4-5 top notch prospects. They would not take on another $24 million in contract with guys like Furcal, Proctor and Garciaparra, even with Paul and McDonald thrown in. Furcal is hitting, .205 and 30? Nomar is 34 years old, Proctor is 31.

I mean I considered this trade for Vernon Wells and thought it might not be enough. Jays would only be taking on Baldelli's $3+ million and get two guys with 3 years til Arbitration.

If you want Vernon Wells that bad at least another solid spec would go to the Jays like Chris Withrow or Bryan Morris and some contract would come back to the Dodgers, say Frank Thomas's $9 million paycheck. The Jays already have the worst money situation and don't need 24 million more reasons to suck.

the reason furcal is hitting so low is cause he was sharing his job with Hu.

and furcal, garciaparra and proctor's contracts all end at this year, yes the Jays have a not so good money situation, but these players are all capable of a solid 1 year service.

if i had to add anything i reckn i wud add money, but i reckon it is pretty fair as it is.

because wells' contract is 11 million, so technically they only take on 13 million more.

i wud take frank thomas, but id release him straight away, which toronto can do at their own wish anyway...

I have to agree I mean with Jays giving up Wells 93.93 and a solid IF in Olmedo, and getting no 90+ peal or overall guys back....

xavier paul and james mcdonald shud be 90+ peaks at the end of the season, and both are in their late 20's so just cause they arnt their now doesnt mean they wont ever be

This trade (SO FAR) is being rejected. I will gather a few more opinions before I move it to rejected or accepted.

So you are going to send a platoon SS making $13 mil, a back-up 3B making $9 mil, and a reliever not even good enough to make your staff at $2.9 mil and a couple good prospects for a Top 10 CF 93 rated who will become the 2nd highest rated position player in your line-up hitting somewhere between 3-5 for you. The Jays take on an additional $14 million in salary this season, being they would probably not resign anyone of those 3 guys, unless it might be Furcal who is going to be 31 and will demand a 3-5 year contract exceeding $12 million. I'll give you that you are taking on $11 million in Vernon Wells contract, but anyone would be willing to do that with what he is capable of stat wise.

Just send the Jays what Vernon Wells is worth.

Add in a C prospect the Dodgers desperately need like Jonathan Arencibia 68/89

You could even dump Garciaparra's contract and take Olmedo to the Dodgers and I don't think anyone would object.

It's still a stupid trade for Toronto. He could get so much more for him if he held an auction. Let's face it, in this deal, it's pretty much McDonald and Paul for Wells. That isn't unfair enough for a veto, but it is definitely not even. But I guess if Toronto doesn't want to explore his options with other teams (where he would get more), then he can do so.
